Thanks to everyone who came out for our spring readings this year! All three were very successful in bringing people out for a taste of our latest issue, Volume 38. Along with several samplings read by Oyez editors, we also had the privilege of listening to two of the writers whose work appears in the issue: Cecilia Villarruel (“Tampico” and “Chingona”) and Carol K. Howell (“Removed”). Carol joined us in February at The Book Cellar, and Cecy read with us at both Roosevelt’s Gage Gallery in January and Women and Children First in March. Thank you both! It was a pleasure hearing you read.

Oyez also had the honor of meeting Thomas C. Jackson, the featured artist published in Volume 38, at his show opening in February at the Packer Schopf Gallery in the West Loop. The black and white brush ink drawings from Jackson’s Child’s Play series have made Oyez 38 a remarkably visually-appealing issue, and we truly appreciate his contribution.
